The perfect choice for the feel of island life is Mirissa. The wavering palm trees confine the convex sandy bay. It has wonderful wildlife around. Whales are reasonably close to the shoreline during December. You can even watch turtles laying eggs.

Bentota

Arugam Bay

Unawatuna

Passikudah and Kalkudah

Weligama

If you are a serious surfer, this beach is ideal for you as there is no fear of sharks. The beach is ornamented with a shallow coral reef which gives the visitors an easy diving and snorkeling experience. Do visit the Weligama lace weaving factory and buy one or more laces.

Nilaveli

The beach is home to heavenly soft white sands and the azure water of the Indian Ocean. Marine life is at its utmost charm. Take a 20-minute boat ride to the famous Pigeon Island and enjoy the rock pools and adventurous snorkeling. The best time to visit the luxurious beach is from May to September.
