The Athirappilly Falls
The Athirappilly Falls is located on the Chalakudy River. It stands tall at a height of 85 meters! Public transport is unavailable here, hence, to reach the falls you would need to arrange a cab and travel for nearly two hours. Words of advice – If you want to get a good look at the waterfall, then you would need to trek downwards for about 3 km. You cannot take a shower beneath the waterfall – it is dangerous to do so! The Tea Plantation of Munnar

The road is curvy and narrow at the same time, thus, making it pretty difficult for even a seasoned driver to work their magic! After that, you can head on over to the Tata Tea Museum situated on the way to Thekkady from Munnar.

The Periyar National Park
While you are in Kerala, don’t forget to visit the state’s Idukki District!

Well, it hosts the Periyar National Park – one of the notable wildlife sanctuaries in all of South India! You can enter the National Park through the Thekkady gate located in the Kumily district.
While you are in the National Park, you can take a boat ride in the Periyar Lake. But there is a catch, though! The boat ride is accessible to only a limited number of visitors. The ride starts sharp at 7:30 AM, and only the first 200 people will be able to enjoy the ride in a single batch! Each day, only five batches are served by the authorities overseeing this activity in the National Park. Each ride commences after two hours from the batch before.
Words of advice – If you plan your day carefully, it is easy for you to catch a boat and watch elephants and birds as the boat cruises on the Periyar Lake!
The Beautiful Kovalam Beach
Kovalam is known for its beautiful beaches. It is a small town located at a mere 17 kilometres from the state capital, Trivandrum. The most popular beach in Kovalam is the Lighthouse beach. The USP of this beach is the 35-meter high lighthouse.
Words of advice – You cannot enter the waters here at night, though. It is prohibited by the authorities and for the right reasons – currents of the Arabian Sea become erratic during the wee hours!
